Live Piano at Café Asé | Black History Month

Join us Friday, February 13, from 4–8 PM for an evening of soul-stirring music with Howard Alexander performing solo piano in AWAACC’s Davenport Lobby at coffee shop Café Ase.

As part of Black History Month, Howard, affectionately known as Howie, will celebrate the legacy and impact of the music of Our America 250, bringing jazz, R&B, gospel, and more to life in his signature style.

With a career spanning over 27 years, Howie has performed alongside legendary artists including Stanley Turrentine, funk drummer Poogie Bell, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. His versatility and musical excellence have made him one of the city’s most sought-after pianists across genres.

Howard was AWAACC’s 2024 B.U.I.L.D. Artist-in-Residence. He currently serves as Artistic Director at the Afro American Music Institute.

Stop in, grab a hot coffee or tea, enjoy delicious desserts, and let the music carry you through the evening.
